TODOR BATKOV
The Foros project is being realized by “Foros Development” AD investment company with majority stakeholder - the famous Bulgarian lawer and investor Todor Batkov.Batkov was born in Plovdiv. He graduates from the Faculty of Law at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He works consecutively from 1984 to 1991 as an organisational secretary of the “Oborishte” Municipality, as a councillor in the Council of Ministers and as a senior councillor in the National Assembly. Since 1991 Todor Batkov is Attorney at Law, Managing partner of Batkov, Stoev, Botev & Associates, International Law Company, Member of the Sofia Bar Association and the International Lawyer Union with registered office and address in Paris. PhD in History.
He is married and has a 14-year old son and a 9-year old daughter. He also has an elder daughter, from his first marriage, a Political Science student in London.
Todor Batkov is the number one taxpayer in Bulgaria for the last few years. He is the owner and initiator of over 20 business projects - Major Shareholder and President of the Professional Football Club LEVSKI AD, Sofia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of STANDARTNEWS EAD that publishes the second biggest newspaper Standart, daily, Member of the Supervisory Board of Mobiltel ÅAD, the leader on Bulgarian telecommunications market . Batkov is also owner of the largest wine distillery Vini Sliven, hundreds of hectares of vineyards (Vila Hisar and Vila Lubimetz), hotels, and 86 % of the assets of a large parquet producing company (investments of 35 million in Ukraine). Moreover, he has other considerable investments in real estate besides Foros: a logistical centre and an industrial park containing a water bottling factory are under construction on a wide area nearby Varna. Batkov invests in agriculture and sports projects throughout the country. Furthermore he has companies in Austria, Netherlands and Canada.
Batkov strongly believes that “the young generation of Bulgaria must be kept here”. All football commentators acknowledge that FC Levski’s extraordinary success last season was due to his managerial approach. He invests in unknown, yet talented boys, who become stars in FC Levski. This is also his strategy at his law firm, Standart newspaper and elsewhere. He feels that the talented young people must be supported.
The Foros Project is his personal priority task.
