BURGAS

Burgas is the fourth biggest city in Bulgaria and the biggest bay on the Black Sea coast that is called after it – the Burgas Bay. Burgas City Beach is the longest beach in Bulgaria. Burgas has a large harbour, an international airport and a railway station. It is surrounded by the lakes Vaya, Atanasovo lake and Mandra lake.


There is General Consulate of Turkey in Burgas, as well as honourable consulates of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Romania. Burgas is fraternized with San Francisco (California, USA), Hamburg (Germany), Rotterdam (Holland), Yantai (China), Krasnodar (Russia) and Alexandroupolis (Greece). The city has Historical, Archaeological and Natural History Museums; Theatre for Opera and Ballet, Drama Theatre, Puppet Theatre and many art galleries. It is famous for its institutions of higher education – Prof. Assen Zlatarov University, Burgas Free University, College of Tourism, Medical and Technical colleges. During August Burgas becomes a capital of International Folklore Festival, and two times during the year – during spring and during autumn – it is host of International Flower Exhibition “Flora-Burgas”. The Sea Garden, situated close to the sea shore, represents a pleasant place for walks and entertainment.
